Our goal is to remix negative preconceived notions about classical music through a subversive, interactive experience that leads audiences on a musically inspired journey through time, space, and culture.

The Origin Story

Remix the Symphony has been developed in partnership with the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. The ISO wanted to develop an experience targeted at getting a younger generation to attend and see the worth in the classical music experience. Their ISO’s challenge: It doesn’t have the resources or the infrastructure to work outside its core mission.

The ISO and Ball State University’s Center for Emerging Media Design and Development teamed up to create that experience. The result: Remix the Symphony, a three-year, interactive experience aimed at bringing new audiences to the ISO’s Lilly Classical Series through a combination of digital and live events.

Season 1 of Remix the Symphony launches in January 2017.
